Prof. Yuan-Soon Ho

Prof. Yuan-Soon HoProf. Yuan-Soon Ho completed his doctorate in Biochemistry field at the National Taiwan University in 1994 he joined the faculty at Graduate Institute of Biomedical Technology, Taipei Medical University where he directed research combining genomics and breast cancer research with translational research. Dr. Ho is currently as the Director of Graduate Institute of Medical Science, Taipei Medical University (2014). His research team found that nicotinic receptors were detected in the breast tumor tissues. The role of nicotinic receptor was demonstrated as a cell growth promoting factor evidenced by SiRNA knock down and tet-off overexpression animal experiments. This finding led to the development of powerful antitumor agents, and the cloning of nicotinic receptor gene linked to breast cancer and now being investigated as a potential therapeutic target for smoking-induced breast and other cancers.

Dr. Ho is also invited as an editor of the Scientific Report (oncology field) and Plos One journals. It is expected that these works will lead to further establish a translational research team by which coordinate the basic and clinical researchers to focus on the mechanisms of breast cancer formation.

Dr. Ho is the author of more than 144 articles with 35 citations and is having 35 H-index.
