Dr. Raúl Domínguez

Raúl Domínguez Degree in Sport Sciences and Master´s Degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Granada, Raúl obtained the award for the best PhD in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Alfonso X El Sabio University in 2015. Between 2013 and 2021 he has worked at Associate Professor in different private universities in Spain. Since 2021 he is Full Professor at the University of Seville. His main research line is focused on the topic of Sport nutrition that includes the analysis of the pattern of sport supplement consumption by athletics population, and the effect of different dietary strategies and sport supplement on physical performance, and fatigue. The sport supplement more studied by Raúl is beetroot juice. Therefore, he has obtained funding in three competitive projects with a relevant scientific production in quantity and quality. Regarding to the amount, the research line in beetroot juice reaches 19 articles published in journals with impact factor JCR and 26 works exposed in national or international congress while the quality includes two awards as the best study exposed in the I International Congress of Sport Nutrition, Performance and Health SEEND CODINMA and the best article published in the Education Science Faculty of the University of Seville in 2020. Raúl has been interviewed as expert about this topic in different international media (i.e., The Washington Post) and one of his studies was included in the production of Netflix “The Game Changers”. The total scientific production reaches 86 articles in Web of Science (WOS) and 99 in Scopus and a Hirsch index of 21 according to WOS (1460 citations) and Scopus (1625 cites). Contributions in national/international congress exceeds 100 oral communications and 20 invited conferences. Researcher of 7 competitive research projects in the topic of Sport Nutrition. Currently he is the main researcher of a funded research network of the Higher Sports Council of Spain formed by 22 Spanish Universities titled “Nutrition Applied to the Female Athlete”.
